Privacy Policy
What we collect when you send us an enquiry, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
We ask for as little as we can, we use it only to answer you, and we do not sell it to anybody. The detail is below.
1 Who we are
Gusto Locks is the trading name of A R Enterprises, a padlock manufacturer based at Koil, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean that business, and “you” means anyone visiting this website or sending us an enquiry through it.
We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described below, which is to say we decide what is collected and why. The address and the inbox to write to are at the foot of this page.
2 What this policy covers
This policy covers this website and the enquiries that reach us through it. It does not cover what happens once you become a customer and we exchange orders, invoices and delivery paperwork, which is governed by the terms of that trade and by the tax and company law we are required to follow.
It also does not cover other companies’ websites you may reach from a link here. Those have their own policies.
3 Information you give us
You can read this entire website without telling us anything about yourself. We only hold personal data if you fill in one of three forms.
Enquiry and contact form
Your name, company name, phone or WhatsApp number, email address, the country you are buying for, the quantity you need, and whatever you write in the message box. We also record which page the enquiry was sent from, so we know which product you were looking at.
Catalogue and file downloads
Your name, email address, phone number and, if you give it, your company name. This is asked once before a gated file opens.
Distributor and dealer applications
Your name, firm name, email address, phone number, city, state, the type of business you run and your message. Where the application asks you to confirm your email address or phone number, we send a one-time code and record whether it was entered correctly. The code itself is short-lived and is not kept once it has been used or has expired.
The company field on the enquiry and download forms is optional. The rest are marked as required because we cannot quote or reply without them. Please do not send us bank details, card numbers, Aadhaar, PAN or any other identity document through these forms: we do not ask for them and we have no use for them at the enquiry stage.
4 Information collected automatically
When you send an enquiry we store the IP address it came from alongside it. That one record exists so that we can deal with spam and abusive submissions, and so that we can show, if it is ever disputed, where and when a form was filled in.
Our web server also keeps ordinary access logs, in the way that every web server does: IP address, the time of the request, the page asked for, and the browser and device string your browser sends. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and they are overwritten in the normal course of the hosting.
We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, heat-mapping or any other visitor tracking on this site, and we do not build a profile of what you look at.
5 Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. What it does set is functional and short, and it is listed here in full.
- Download pass. Once you have filled in the form for a gated file, a signed cookie lets every other file on the site open for the next 30 days without asking again. It holds an expiry time and a signature, and no personal details.
- Enquiry list. If you add products to an enquiry list, that list is kept in your own browser’s local storage. It stays on your device and is not sent to us until you submit the enquiry.
- Page loader. A single value in session storage remembers that you have already seen the opening animation, so it does not play again on every page. It is discarded when you close the tab.
- WordPress. Standard cookies used to make forms work and to keep logged-in staff signed in to the administration area.
You can clear or block these in your browser settings. If you block them, forms may refuse to submit and gated files will ask for your details again each time.
6 How we use your information
We use what you send us in order to:
- reply to your enquiry and answer questions about the range;
- prepare and send quotations, pro forma invoices and samples;
- assess dealer, distributor, OEM and export applications;
- send you the file you asked to download, and tell you when a newer edition of the catalogue is out;
- keep a record of what was quoted and agreed, which protects both sides if a question comes up later;
- detect and stop spam, fraudulent and abusive submissions;
- meet obligations under Indian tax, company and export law.
We do not use your details to make any decision about you by automated means, and we do not sell, rent or trade them.
7 Consent, and what we rely on
Every form on this site carries a tick box saying, in plain words, that you agree to us keeping the details in order to reply to you. That consent is what we rely on, and it is given freely: nothing on the site is withheld from you for declining, other than the reply you were asking for.
Where we keep records to satisfy the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules under them, or our obligations under tax and company law, we keep them for as long as that law requires.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to gustolock@gmail.com. Withdrawing it is as easy as giving it. It does not undo anything we did lawfully beforehand, and we may still need to keep a minimal record where the law says so.
8 How we will contact you
When you send an enquiry you are asking us to get back to you, and we may do that by phone, email or WhatsApp, using the number and address you gave. Replies are about your enquiry, your quotation or your application.
We do not run a marketing mailing list and we do not send newsletters or promotional blasts. From time to time we may tell a past enquirer that a new catalogue or a new range is out. Ask us to stop and we will stop.
9 Who else sees it
Your details are seen by the people in our office and works who handle enquiries, quotations and dispatch, and by nobody else, except in these cases:
- Service providers. The company that hosts this website and the service that delivers our email handle your data in the course of carrying the message. They act on our instructions and are not free to use it for their own purposes.
- Transport and logistics. If an enquiry becomes an order, the name, address and phone number needed to deliver goods are given to the transporter or courier.
- Professional advisers. Our accountants and, if it ever becomes necessary, our lawyers.
- The law. Where we are required to disclose information to a court, a tax authority, the police or another public authority acting within its powers.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not pass your contact details to other manufacturers, to lead brokers, or to anyone who wants to market to you.
10 Third-party services on this site
A few parts of the site load from other companies, and when they do, those companies can see your IP address and the fact that you loaded the page:
- Google Fonts serves the typefaces the site is set in.
- Google Maps is used, where a map is shown, to display where the works are.
- YouTube hosts the factory video. The video is not loaded at all until you click on it, so nothing reaches YouTube unless you ask for it.
- WhatsApp opens when you use a WhatsApp button, at which point the conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy.
Each of these has its own privacy policy, which we do not control and are not responsible for.
11 Confidentiality of business enquiries
Enquiries from dealers, distributors, OEM buyers and exporters often contain commercially sensitive material: the quantities you move, the markets you serve, the specification you want built. We treat that as confidential.
It is used to prepare your quotation and to assess your application. It is not shown to your competitors, it is not used to approach your customers, and it is not disclosed for any commercial purpose of ours.
12 How long we keep it
- Enquiries, quotations and download requests: up to three years from our last contact with you, after which they are deleted. Three years is the span in which a trade buyer typically comes back to reorder, and it keeps our record of what was quoted intact for that period.
- Distributor and dealer applications: up to three years from the decision, so that we can explain that decision if asked.
- Records required by tax, company or export law: for the period that law lays down, which is longer.
- Server access logs: a short period, in the ordinary rotation of the hosting.
- The download cookie: 30 days, on your own device.
If you ask us to delete your details sooner, we will, except for anything we are obliged to keep.
13 Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Forms are protected against cross-site submission and carry a hidden trap for automated spam. Gated files are moved out of the public upload folder into a location that cannot be guessed. Access to the administration area is limited to the few people who need it, and enquiry records are visible only to them.
That said, no website, no email and no server can be made perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that a transmission over the internet is beyond interception. You send information to us at your own risk, and we would ask again that you never put bank, card or identity document details into a form on this site.
14 Your rights
You may ask us, at any time, to:
- tell you what personal data of yours we hold and what we have done with it;
- correct anything that is wrong, incomplete or out of date;
- delete what we hold, where we are not obliged to keep it;
- stop contacting you, or withdraw the consent you gave;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to, whether through death or incapacity.
Write to gustolock@gmail.com and say what you want. We will answer within a reasonable period, and in any case within the period the law allows. We may ask you to confirm who you are first, so that we do not hand your details to somebody else.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, write to us again and say so, and we will look at it afresh. You also retain your right to complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
15 Visitors from outside India
We manufacture in India and our office, our staff and our servers are here. If you send an enquiry from another country, your details are transferred to India and handled under Indian law, which may not be the same as the law where you are. Sending us the enquiry is your agreement to that transfer.
16 Children
This is a trade website for a manufacturer. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us their details, tell us and we will delete them.
17 Changes to this policy
We will update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top of the page will change with it. The version published here is the one that applies. If a change is significant we will say so on the page rather than let it pass unmarked.
Questions, or a request about your data
Write to us at the address below and mark it for the attention of the person handling data protection.
